“I was in my room seeing football because Udinese was playing against Juve. I never tried to come outside, never tried to go outside,” assured Fernandes during a Zoom interview with the Manchester Evening News.

“We just did what the security said to us, keep in our rooms, stay there was everything the players did. If someone tried to come out, I don't know. I didn't see anyone try to come out, honestly.”

Fernandes spent much of his career in Italy, playing for Novara, Udinese and Sampdoria between 2012 and 2017.

Udinese had taken an early lead on Sunday, but Juventus fought back for the 2-1 victory with a Cristiano Ronaldo brace.
