“The whole team wants to end the season with joy. We’ve been working so hard for months in order to achieve something few would’ve believed at the start of our Serie A journey,” said the coach in his press conference.

“The finish line is close, but we still have to fight with all our strength in order to reach it. Our performance against Napoli was not what we needed, as we were excessively timid and didn’t create chances.

“Tomorrow it’s a real final against Sampdoria, who will be determined to end their season on a high. We need a different attitude to the one we had against Napoli and these points could decide the whole season.”

Top scorer Nzola was suspended for the Napoli game, but has now been frozen out of the squad for this midweek round as a disciplinary move.

This is because he broke the internal code of the club by staying at home when banned and not going to watch his teammates in the stadium.

“We will try to play our football, the kind that took us to Serie A and to fight for remaining in the top flight in the most difficult league in the world.”
