Attilio Tesser sees the potential for his Novara side to get a result at Roma this weekend, because they need to and because: “you should always play to win.”

Novara are currently 19th in the table and have been in the relegation zone since mid-October. However, the message coming from the returned Coach is that the team have still not given up, even as they find themselves eight points adrift of safety, with 27 points to play for.

The Piedmont side travel south to Rome this weekend to face Luis Enrique’s Roma in the Sunday lunchtime kick-off.

“At this point, all are key stages and this match against Roma – as well as all the others that lie ahead – is difficult and important,” Tesser reflected on Friday.

“Under the conditions we currently find ourselves in, we must get a result in every game.

“When I came back I bet everything on pride and dignity, by targeting the fact that the team had to give everything until the last game.

“The ranking is not the only thing driving us – first we have to answer to ourselves, we must honour and respect this shirt.

“In Rome, I expect a positive result, because in football you should always play to win. Even if the game goes badly, we must not give up in any way.”
