Walter Samuel assures the Inter squad “have great respect” for new 36-year-old Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

The tactician was promoted from the Primavera youth team on Monday night as a replacement for Claudio Ranieri and makes his Serie A debut this afternoon against Genoa.

“We have respect for Stramaccioni. Great respect,” veteran defender Samuel told Inter Channel.

“We respect his work and want to do well. Now I hope we can start winning again right away, then take it one game at a time. This squad deserves to be much higher up the table than we are now.

“What has changed this week? Our training methods have changed a little, but it has only been a few days. I feel in good shape and my injuries are behind me now. Playing consistently helps you to recover your form and now we’ve all got to get back to winning ways.

“Rodrigo Palacio and Alberto Gilardino are strong and in good shape, but we have to focus on playing well and getting the result.”
