Bayern Munich have knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League to reach the Final at the end of a dramatic penalty shoot-out at the Bernabeu.

Real thought they had it in the bag when quickly going 2-0 up through a Cristiano Ronaldo brace, including a penalty.

However, Arjen Robben got a crucial Bayern away goal by converting another spot-kick for Pepe’s push on Mario Gomez.

The second half was considerably quieter with the tie all square 3-3 on aggregate and even on away goals.

Even extra time could not divide the two teams, so it went to penalties at the Bernabeu.

David Alaba scored, but Manuel Neuer saved the Cristiano Ronaldo effort. Gomez also converted, but Neuer parried Kaka’s spot-kick too and Iker Casillas kept out Toni Kroos.

Xabi Alonso got Real Madrid on the board at last and Casillas stuck up an arm to save from Philip Lahm.

It left them with two penalties each when Sergio Ramos stepped up and ballooned over the bar. Bastian Schweinsteiger took the decisive kick with Mourinho kneeling on the edge of the pitch and kept his cool to convert.

Bayern Munich will face Chelsea in the Champions League Final in their home stadium.
