Walter Mazzarri keeps his eye on Napoli’s Champions League prize and tells Ezequiel Lavezzi he must “accept Goran Pandev is in better shape.”

Tonight’s 2-0 victory over Palermo allowed them to at least keep hold of joint third place, which they shared going into this midweek round with Inter, Lazio” data-scaytid=”46″>Lazio and Udinese” data-scaytid=”47″>Udinese.

“I want to thank the fans for giving us a big hand today and I am convinced many of them will flock to Bologna, because we’ve got to win them all. It depends on Lazio, though, as they have the advantage in a head-to-head record with us,” said the Coach.

“The Champions League is important for us and we are a young side who could benefit from this experience next year. Obviously it also takes a lot out of you, Milan’s Adriano Galliani said as much as 7-8 points. Add reaching the Coppa Italia Final and it explains our season.”

Lavezzi was left on the bench again in favour of Pandev and it no longer appears to be an issue of fitness after an injury.

“A Coach makes technical decisions,” replied Mazzarri. “He was injured, hasn’t trained much and I chose Pandev because he is in great form.

“Lavezzi is improving, but there are so few games to go and we cannot afford a single slip-up. I spoke to Lavezzi yesterday and explained many things, so I hope he understood.

“The team is the most important thing and he has to accept that right now Pandev is in better shape.”
