Udinese have denied reports linking Juventus with a move for Luis Muriel this summer, insisting that he will return to the Zebrette for next season.

The 21-year-old Colombian has impressed this season on loan at Lecce and, in facing Juve this midweek, was linked to interest from them. This follows on from previous links to Inter and Milan.

However, Udinese’s sporting director has promised that the only Bianconero the player will be playing in next season will be that of the Friulani.

However, Udinese’s sporting director has promised that the only Bianconero the player will be playing in next season will be that of the Friulani.

“Beyond this alleged interest from Juventus, Muriel is a player who will return to Udine to stay, there’s no doubt about this,” declared Fabrizio Larini to Ilsussidiario.net on Thursday.

“He is absolutely returning to us. What counts is our decision, until proven otherwise. We are the ones who will decide. Muriel is still a young boy and no doubt he will be in Udine next year.

“Would he be another player to be sold like Alexis Sanchez? No, nobody can say what the future holds. We can say though that the immediate future of Muriel is in Udine – after that, you’ll see.”
