Guarin has 'no Inter regrets'

Fredy Guarin had a rough start to his Inter career, but insists he is happy to have joined Inter after snubbing Juventus.

The former Porto midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Turin in January, but opted for the Nerazzurri instead.

“I said it when I arrived and I have no problems reaffirming it: Inter are the team I liked before coming here and now that I am at San Siro, I don’t want to leave.

“I thought about the Inter jersey and dreamed of it, so now I am wearing it I have no intention of taking it off,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.

Inter paid €1m for the six-month loan, but an option to buy outright at the end of the season is worth €13m.

“The clubs must reach an agreement, I realise that. I focus only on playing, but I hope they strike a deal so I can stay in Milan for a long time.

“I believe we can win a great deal here and Inter have a project in place. I came to this side because I want to win and certainly do not regret my choice.

“If I had gone to Juve, I’d have been a step away from the Scudetto right now, but I always and only wanted Inter. Since that option came on the table, I had absolutely no doubts.”

The Nerazzurri also gambled on Guarin despite a serious injury that delayed his debut.

“Obviously after five months with no official games, I cannot give 100 per cent straight away and I’m not at the level I was at with Porto. I can give so much more, am fired up and want to help my team in the derby.

“It will be a pleasure to play in the Milan derby, although of course the objective is to win it...”

Guarin also used this interview to suggest Inter invest in fellow Colombian Luis Muriel, who is currently owned by Udinese and on loan at Lecce.
