Lega Calcio President Giancarlo Abete confirms he has spoken to Andrea Agnelli since Juventus’ title win, but not about the third star.

The Bianconeri are making it clear that they believe the 2011-12 Scudetto, secured on Sunday evening, is the club’s 30th, despite 2006’s Calciopoli rulings that officially stripped them of two titles.

However, on the subsequent issue of sewing a third star on to the club’s shirt for next season – a star is added for every 10 titles won – President Agnelli only confirmed that fans would be in for a ‘surprise’ for next season’s shirt design.

The Lega Calcio’s chief Abete admits that like everyone else he is intrigued by this tease, as he confirms he has not yet discussed the issue with the club.

“Agnelli said that there will be a surprise for supporters on the jersey? If it’s a surprise then I too await to know the contents of it,” Abete told reporters on Monday.

“This morning I called Agnelli, we have not spoken about this issue, but I congratulated him in my role as President of the federation.

“Juventus’ return to the top is an important signal for all of Italian football, for what Juventus represents, for the moment of great difficulty that they experienced and for their ability to return to the top and hopefully, ultimately, also to good results at a European level.”
