Stevan Jovetic has been granted a reprieve by doctors today with the news that he has not suffered serious damage to his knee.

The Montenegrin international has been out of action since picking up a knock to his knee in the closing stages of Fiorentina’s match at Atalanta.

It was initially feared that the blunt trauma suffered had done some harm to the joint’s ligaments, seeing as it was the same knee the player seriously damaged at the start of last season.

However, a visit to Dr Ulrich Boenisch in Augsburg, Germany has brought confirmation that no serious damage was done and that the knee remains stable.

Meanwhile, the club have also confirmed today that Riccardo Montolivo’s season is over, after he picked up a grade one thigh strain that will rule him out for seven to 10 days.
