Milan look for Nesta replacement

The Corriere dello Sport is speculating over which defenders Milan could target to replace the departing Alessandro Nesta.

The veteran stopper yesterday confirmed that this would be his last season in Serie A with the Rossoneri.

Reports today suggest that although Chievo’s Francesco Acerbi has basically been secured already, there are three other stoppers of interest.

Palermo centre-back Matias Silvestre could be targeted after he admitted of a desire to play for a club competing in Europe next season.

The Corriere is also suggesting that Cagliari’s Italian international Davide Astori is a possible new recruit.

Real Madrid’s Raul Albiol, 27, is another contender on the short-list.

Ajax’s Jan Vertonghen, linked in the past, is set for a move to the Premier League instead.
