Palermo have confirmed that Fiorentina will sign Mattia Cassani on a permanent basis and at a discounted rate.
The defender moved to Tuscany last summer in a loan move which cost the Viola €2m, while a buy-out fee was set at €5m.
“Cassani is virtually a Fiorentina player,” Rosanero President Maurizio Zamparini told fiorentina.it. “There was an obligation to buy so his move is automatic and there should not be any problems.
“Will he cost €5m? No, I think the price agreed is less than half of what is being suggested…”
Cassani, signed by Palermo in 2006 after a spell at Verona, had an injury affected campaign which limited him to just 26 Serie A games this term.
The 28-year-old subsequently missed on out selection for Euro 2012 with Italy.
