Agent Mino Raiola rushed to calm the storm after Zlatan Ibrahimovic said Milan have no money. “He is totally in sync with the club and will not leave.”

The striker caused shockwaves on Friday in a press conference on international duty with Sweden when he openly criticised the Rossoneri’s transfer strategy.

“Milan’s problem is economic. There is no money to buy five players, or even the ones we need. We made a couple of signings, maybe there will be a third.”

Naturally this upset the club hierarchy and Vice-President Adriano Galliani urged agent Raiola to do some damage limitation.

“There are four or five sides who want him, but Zlatan is staying at Milan,” Raiola told Sky Sport Italia.

“He is totally in sync with the club and will not leave. Ibra didn’t want to say that the club has no money, as he was trying to get at something different… He was referring to football in general and the way the financial crisis is starting to affect the sport.

“Ibra knows that Milan cannot afford to sign five top class champions, because nobody can at the moment.

“Ibra is not quitting Milan, we are certain of that. Zlatan spoke to Galliani a few days ago and there are no problems. Now Zlatan is focused on Euro 2012 with Sweden, as he went on international duty safe in the knowledge Milan do not want to sell him and he does not want to leave.

“This team has helped bring back the smile to this lad and he is prepared to marry their project. Could he be the captain in future? Only if the club ask him to be. You can be a captain even without the armband.

“As for rumours of problems with Massimiliano Allegri, there’s nothing to report and it’s not true the situation is complicated. There is respect between Zlatan and the Coach.”
