Croatia held by Norway

Italy’s Euro 2012 Group C opponents Croatia were pegged back in a disappointing 1-1 friendly draw with Norway.

The Azzurri are set to face Croatia in their second game on June 14 in Poznan, sharing the group with Spain and the Republic of Ireland.

Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka were rested due to fitness worries, then Ivica Olic requested a substitution after 71 minutes with a muscle strain

It was goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa who was kept busy by the Norwegian attack throughout the game, although Croatia did break the deadlock.

Eduardo nodded in a cross from Darijo Srna with 10 minutes left on the clock, but deep into stoppages Norway equalised thanks to Tarik Elyounoussi from a corner.

Croatia’s other friendlies leading into Euro 2012 were a 3-1 home defeat to Sweden on February 29 and a 3-1 win over Estonia on May 25.
