The Napoli star had been in negotiations with the Nerazzurri, but now seems very close to completing a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain for around €27.5m.

“It’s better that Lavezzi goes to PSG. Inter need a striker who scores goals,” legend Suarez told Radio Marte.

“Despite the fact Pocho is very talented, he doesn’t score very much and personally I prefer to have strikers in a team who are more clear-headed in front of goal.”

Suarez has more confidence in the Argentine that Inter have signed – Genoa’s Rodrigo Palacio.

“It is a great opportunity for Palacio and I think he will confirm the good work he’s already done up until now.”
