Thiago Motta's Busquets reunion

Thiago Motta is looking forward to challenging Spain’s Sergio Busquets again today. “Nobody is unbeatable and we’re convinced Italy can win.”

The Azzurri open their Euro 2012 campaign in Gdansk at 17.00 UK time today.

It’s a particularly special game for former Barcelona midfielder Thiago Motta, who admits he hasn’t spoken to Busquets since the Spaniard feigned injury to get him sent off in Inter’s 2010 Champions League semi-final.

“Since that night I haven’t had a chance to talk to him,” Thiago Motta told La Gazzetta dello Sport of that imagined elbow to the face.

Busquets was also caught on camera ‘sneaking a peek’ between his hands to check the red card as he rolled around on the floor.

“In any case, it’s the past now and to be considered water under the bridge. At the end of the day, it was only a football match.”

Now at Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian-born Italian international supports the switch to a 3-5-2 system under Cesare Prandelli.

“The Coach is always very calm and manages to give us all the relaxation we need. We also have so many reference points in the team, such as Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio, that they are all capable of shouldering responsibility.

“I won’t hold back either. Nobody is unbeatable and we are convinced Italy can win against this Spain side.”
