It was claimed on Sky Sport Italia that Benitez held a meeting with the Blucerchiati this evening in London.
Benitez himself was not there, but spoke to Samp director Pasquale Sensibile on the telephone, while his entourage held the negotiations over wages and plans for the club.
It is believed the Spaniard wants to ensure Sampdoria have solid projects in place to be an ambitious side for their return to Serie A.
