Oddo: Cuadrado ideal for Napoli

Massimo Oddo has backed former Lecce teammate Juan Cuadrado to make an impact if Napoli decide to buy him.

Cuadrado spent last season on loan at Lecce from Udinese but with his long-term future uncertain in Udine, Napoli have been linked with a swoop.

Oddo, who recently retired after spending his final season on loan at Lecce from Milan, has suggested that Cuadrado is capable of pulling on the Napoli shirt.

The 35-year-old told Radio Kiss Kiss: “I played with him and he is a very interesting player. He played in several positions without a problem and with respect to Luis Muriel [another Udinese loanee at Lecce], Cuadrado is ready to play for a bigger team.”

Oddo, pondering the Colombian’s possible role at Napoli, added: “I would recommend him as an alternative for Christian Maggio.”

Udinese will have the final say on Cuadrado’s future as he is still contracted at the Friuli for two years, so Napoli would have to negotiate an attractive deal should they pursue his signature.
