“Every time we think it is time for us Germans to take revenge on Italy, but it’s no good. You are our bogey team and once again their superiority has been crushing,” said the former Ballon d’Or winner.
“Gigi Buffon maybe was right to say Italy should’ve closed the game earlier, but Antonio Di Natale and Claudio Marchisio went closer to the 3-0 than we did to making it 2-2.
“I will use this match and show it to new players and Coaches as an example of how modern football ought to be played.
“Italy are the most beautiful and strongest team at Euro 2012, the only one that put reigning champions Spain under real pressure.
“If they continue playing like this, Italy deserve to win the Final.”
