Marco Verratti is understood to be on the verge of agreeing a €12m transfer from Pescara to Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports this morning listed his agent Donato Di Campli and the Delfini’s sporting director Daniele Delli Carri as flying out to the French capital to discuss terms with director Leonardo, after a reported bid for the 19-year-old in the region of €12m, with a further €2m agreed as future bonuses.

Subsequently, reports have gathered pace and the latest indications are that Verratti is ready to put pen to paper on a three-year contract set at €1.8m per season.

“At this point, I do not see why the deal won’t be closed,” commented Pescara President Daniele Sebastiani, who suggested last week that no team in Serie A could afford the player.

RMC Sport in France report that the deal is extremely close to completion, and quote an unnamed source close to the player as explaining the reason for his decision to move to Ligue 1.

“Between Juventus and PSG, Marco chose the words of Leonardo, which were very important.

“He showed him the playing philosophy of the future at PSG and Marco subscribed to it. He will also have more playing time in PSG than he would have at Juventus.”

Meanwhile, the player's agent Di Campli also intimated that Leonardo played a big part in negotiations.

“He was very persuasive and Marco has decided, he prefers PSG to Juventus.”
