“My recovery is going well, even if I’m lacking a bit of strength. That’s why I’m working hard to get back in shape as soon as possible.”

A lot is expected of the South American – who has been linked with Manchester United in the past – and he’s eager to not let anyone at the Stadio Olimpico down.

“I feel the responsibility,” he added. “But I’m used to playing for an important club and I had to replace Roberto Carlos at Corinthians…”

Dodo is also confident that he will fit in with the 4-3-3 tactics of boss Zdenek Zeman. “I’ve played in a 4-4-2 and 3-5-2, but also the 4-3-3 – it is a formation I know well.”
