Centre-back Francesco Acerbi is revelling in his transfer to Milan this summer and holds ambition to stay at San Siro for the next decade.

The 23-year-old defender was signed from Genoa at the end of June, having impressed at Chievo last term, and is set to try to replace the departing Alessandro Nesta in the centre of defence.

In an interview La Gazzetta dello Sport, the highly rated centre-back outlined his ambitions for his new side.

“I always tried to do something more at Chievo, for me and for the team. To make this jump one needs to always show one’s quality and be constant – I’ve arrived at Milan and I’m happy.

“To be here is fascinating. I’m at a great club, I’m a fan of this team and I don’t want to be a flash in the pan – I want to be here for 10 years, not just one season.

“The walls are surrounded with many photos of successes? I’d also like to win – I hope to have a great season and show my worth.

“My characteristics? I like to push forward, to give a hand to the midfielders and attackers. The important thing is to return quickly in defence if the team loses the ball.”

The new signing was speaking before reports broke that Thiago Silva could be on his way out to Paris Saint-Germain.

“To have a great champion like Thiago Silva next to me is a great privilege. I hope to learn as much as possible from him.”
