Ancelotti delighted by Thiago swoop

Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti is clearly delighted after his club assured him the services of Milan stopper Thiago Silva.

The Brazilian joined the French outfit on Saturday after a fee, understood to be in the region of €42m, was agreed between the two clubs.

“He’s one of the best defenders on the planet,” the Italian tactician noted. “I’m really very happy with the arrival of Thiago Silva.

“He’s a fantastic player and the whole world knows that he’s one of the greatest. With him, as well as the others, we could have a very valid defence.

“I know Thiago well because I coached him for six months at Milan and he can certainly improve our defensive strength.

“The club have done some great work to bring in such a champion.”

PSG are soon set to deliver Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the tactician too as Milan have accepted an offer for the Swede.

The striker’s agent remains locked in talks with director general Leonardo in a bid to finalise personal terms.

Thiago Silva is currently on international duty with Brazil ahead of the London Olympic Games.
