Italian giants Inter will start the season with the intention of fighting for the title, says Esteban Cambiasso.

The Nerazzurri are making some big changes to their playing staff as they look to lower the average age and cost of the squad after finishing sixth last term.

“We’ll start the new term with a lot of desire and with great expectations,” the 31-year-old told the Corriere dello Sport.

“No matter how we finished the last season, we are not lacking motivation. I’ll remember 2011-12 as a negative season, but that can happen after seven years of success.

“We certainly want to return to winning ways. Inter can fight for the title and we must challenge for the Scudetto.

“We will snub no games.”

Inter have waved goodbye to the likes of Lucio and Diego Forlan, while they are trying to offload Julio Cesar and Dejan Stankovic.

“I’ve never thought of leaving here, even if I have had offers before and after our treble success,” the midfielder continued.

“People that know me are aware that I’ve always felt comfortable at Inter, as well as my first club Independiente, on and off the pitch.”
