Friendlies: Catania beat Chievo

Catania defeated Chievo in an all-Serie A match, Parma were held 2-2 by Varese, Bologna crumbled and Cagliari won in today’s friendlies.

The Elefantini emerged with a 1-0 victory against Chievo thanks to a lone penalty from Francesco Lodi, awarded for a foul on Taka Morimoto.

The Japanese international also hit the woodwork, while Sergio Pellissier and David Di Michele went close for the Flying Donkeys.

Parma only scraped a 2-2 draw against Serie B side Varese in this exciting encounter.

Jonathan Biabiany wiped out a De Luca opener, but Varese went in front for the second time through Tripoli. Uruguayan 20-year-old Emilio MacEachen secured a stalemate with his towering header.

Bologna fell to a shock 2-0 defeat against Serie B outfit Grosseto, ending their two-week training camp in Andalo. Obodo and Curiale got a goal in each half.

Cagliari thumped local side Porto Torres 3-0 in their third friendly test of the season. Mauricio Pinilla, Radja Nainggolan and Marco Sau were on target.
