Palermo captain Fabrizio Miccoli has taken to Twitter to give the outgoing Federico Balzaretti a send-off.

Roma have signed the Italian international wing-back for €4.5m, ending his time in Sicily where he established himself as a top player.

Miccoli, who has been with Palermo since Balzaretti’s arrival, has wished his former teammate well.

“What a strange feeling to see you with another jersey,” he wrote.

Balzaretti’s arrival at Roma brings to an end one of the summer’s longest running transfer sagas that has also seen the 30-year-old linked with Paris-Saint Germain and Napoli after a very impressive Euro 2012 campaign.
