Last night Genoa wondered what they had to do to get a result in their pre-season friendly against Levante.

The Grifone dominated the match in Castel di Sangro, but managed to hit the woodwork three times and wasted several more scoring opportunities with Ze Eduardo, Bosko Jankovic and Alberto Gilardino.

Levante took full advantage and struck on the counter-attack with Barquero, securing the 1-0 result.

Elsewhere, Novara held Torino to a 1-1 draw in the Piedmont derby at the Stadio Piola.

Rolando Bianchi broke the deadlock in favour of the visitors, though the recently-relegated side drew level when veteran Raffaele Rubino was left unmarked to tap in.

Catania were also pegged back 1-1 by a Serie B outfit, as Reggina gave them real problems at the Stadio Granillo.

Despite fielding first choice trident Pablo Barrientos-Alejandro Gomez-Gonzalo Bergessio, the Elefantini struggled throughout the match.

Sarno’s screamer from midfield opened the scoring for Reggina, though Sergio Almiron equalised with another long-range effort.

Goalkeeper Mariano Andujar needed several tough saves to keep Catania from losing.
