Inter and Manchester United were both said to be interested in the Sao Paulo talent, but President Massimo Moratti pulled the Nerazzurri out of negotiations when it became apparent that PSG’s offer could not be matched.

Subsequently the French club’s deal for the 19-year-old has now been completed, with both them and the Brazilian club announcing the deal through their official websites.

Lucas will join up with his new team in 2013, because the Parisians have already used all their non-EU slots for 2012.

New PSG signing Thiago Silva revealed that he had talked sporting director Leonardo into making the move for Lucas.

“Leonardo asked my opinion on Lucas,” Silva, a €42m signing from Milan this summer told L’Equipe.

“I told him only good things about him, not because he is my friend but because he has enormous technical quality.

“I will be happy to have him alongside me at PSG. He will play a big role. He is skilful in front of goal.”
