Matteo Brighi says he has nothing to prove to former club Juventus after joining city rivals Torino.
“A total of 12 years have gone by between that season at Juventus and the one which is about to start,” he told Tuttosport. “It is therefore hard to talk about revenge.
“I will simply say that I have a desire to win the derby while wearing the shirt of Torino…”
Brighi has moved to the newly promoted outfit from Roma after an injury-plagued loan stint at Atalanta last term.
“I’m in good shape and my physical problems are behind me,” the midfielder continued. “It won’t take long for me to get back to full fitness.
“I’m doing all that I can in order to be ready for Saturday’s Coppa Italia game against Lecce. You get in form by playing.”
Brighi was once heralded as a future star of the Italian game, but he’s only won four Italian caps – the last in June 2009.
“There isn’t the time to think about the national side,” Brighi, now 31, added. “Especially as the Coach is experimenting with players much younger than myself.
“I’m looking to get back in Serie A – where I hope to help Torino perform well.”
