Italy probable XI v Malta

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is set to switch back to a 4-3-1-2 system, with Mattia Destro in attack, for Tuesday’s game against Malta.

The Azzurri started their World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday with a 2-2 draw in Bulgaria, but the CT is set to change tactics and personnel.

The 3-5-2 will be benched, while there will be alterations in every department of the team for tomorrow’s tie in Modena.

Fiorentina’s Mattia Cassani is set to replace Christian Maggio on the right in defence, while Federico Peluso or Angelo Ogbonna will be used as a left-back.

Milan’s Antonio Nocerino will replace the injured Daniele De Rossi in midfield and Roma’s Destro should partner club mate Pablo Osvaldo up front.

Juventus’ Sebastian Giovinco, who started in Sofia, will be dropped. Bologna’s Alessandro Diamanti should start behind the front two.

Italy probable: Buffon; Cassani, Barzagli, Bonucci, Peluso/Ogbonna; Nocerino, Pirlo, Marchisio; Diamanti; Osvaldo, Destro.
