Former Italian international Gianluca Zambrotta has confirmed that he could continue his career in Brazil with Flamengo.

The 35-year-old is a free agent after leaving San Siro in June, but he is yet to find a club despite his Bosman status.

“I’d like another experience abroad,” the former Barcelona man told TMW. “The South American option, to go and live in Rio, would be the maximum.

“Let’s say that we are talking about it. For my family and I, as a professional and life experience, going there would be great. We’d like such an opportunity.”

The full-back has been paired with a few Italian clubs, but the 2006 World Cup winner says he wants to leave the peninsula.

“I’ve played for two great teams in Juventus and Milan,” he added. “Rather than wear the shirt of another Italian club, Brazil would be a better solution.

“I’d like to play football for one more season.”
