Palermo welcome Cagliari today, but Coach Giuseppe Sannino is buckling under the pressure. “I am sick of being asked when I’ll be fired.”

The Sicilians have lost both their Serie A games and many expect fiery President Maurizio Zamparini to pull the plug if today’s 17.00 UK time kick-off goes badly. Click here for a match preview.

“I don’t want to answer these questions anymore,” snapped Sannino in a Press conference.

“I am sick of being asked how long I’ll last and when I’ll be fired. It is difficult to be a Coach at Palermo for this sort of behaviour too.

“It is a tough game against Cagliari, because everyone is expecting Palermo’s season to start at this point. That’s not true. Our season started in the opening game against Napoli.

“This is the moment to measure what these lads can do in terms of character as well as football. I think whoever is in this sport knows there will be negative moments along the way, which is why we must be able to deal with those times and move on.

“It’s not easy to start with two defeats, but the most difficult thing is that these were two games where we didn’t see the work we did in the last two months.

“I hope to find a way to give these fans the kind of acceptable performance that Palermo deserve.”

The former Siena boss remains adamant he will not be a short-lived flop in Sicily.

“I never turn back to look at the past, but I have always been able to give my teams a specific identity. This is the most important city in terms of passion that I have dealt with in my career.”

Palermo squad for Cagliari: Benussi, Brichetto, Ujkani; Garcia, Labrin, Mantovani, Milanovic, Morganella, Munoz, Pisano, Von Bergen; Bertolo, Donati, Giorgi, Ilicic, Kurtic, Rios, Viola; Budan, Dybala, Hernandez, Miccoli
