Former Milan boss Arrigo Sacchi is adamant that the Diavolo would be wrong to even consider sacking Massimiliano Allegri.
The tactician’s job is in jeopardy after a disastrous start to the season which has included two home defeats to Sampdoria and Atalanta.
“Milan were evidently satisfied with Allegri given that they decided to keep him in the summer,” Sacchi noted. “As a result, they must now go forward with their Coach.
“A Coach is not a magician or a wizard. He firstly must have players who are functional to his project.
“But, these days, Coaches arrive at clubs and they are given new signings who don’t fit in with their needs.”
Having lost a host of veteran players in the summer, as well as deciding to sell their two best players, Sacchi believes that Allegri now needs to change the way they play.
“Milan are struggling, but over the years the club has looked to individual brilliance rather than a style of play and they are therefore struggling to offset those losses,” he added.
“It’s evident that letting go of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Alessandro Nesta and the rest has lowered the level of the squad.
“You can only compensate for that by working on a new game plan developed for players of less quality.
“Look at Pescara last season, they were the best team to watch in Italy and it wasn’t as if they had world champions in their squad.”
