Zac: 'Milan, don't axe Allegri'

Alberto Zaccheroni knows what it’s like to be fired by Milan and gives his support to Massimiliano Allegri ahead of today’s crunch match with Udinese.

There are reports Allegri could be axed if he loses this match at the Stadio Friuli, especially after an alleged row with youth team manager Pippo Inzaghi.

“A Coach has to learn to live with certain situations and not get affected by what happens outside the field of play,” Zaccheroni told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It isn’t easy to keep your balance, but at a certain level you simply have to.

“This is a difficult moment because it’s not normal for Milan to lose at home to Atalanta and Sampdoria while unable to beat Anderlecht.

“It is clear there are some problems and Allegri has to relax, but he needs to be helped by the media, fans, players and directors. The storms do pass.”

Like Allegri, Zac won the Scudetto in his first Milan campaign, but finished third the next season and was sacked in 2001 by President Silvio Berlusconi.

“It would not be the right move for Milan to change Coach now,” said the Japan manager.

“It all depends on results, though, as if they don’t arrive then it’s difficult to survive in this work. In football, we all depend on victories.”
