Simoni fails Sneijder, Cassano and Milito

Former Inter boss Gigi Simoni has doubts whether the club can simultaneously field Wesley Sneijder, Antonio Cassano and Diego Milito.

“In modern football, it is a necessity that your attacking players are ready to sacrifice themselves and help out in defence when needed,” SImoni told Calcissimo.

“Inter have three players in Sneijder, Cassano and Milito who don’t contribute in the slightest to the defensive phase.

“They may be excellent players, but they hardly ever track back. As a result, Inter get stretched and they become easier to strike against.

“When I was the Inter boss, I had Ronaldo who didn’t come back but I had players like Ivan Zamorano and Francesco Moriero alongside him.

“In 2010, Jose Mourinho convinced Samuel Eto’o to go as deep as his left-back at times. That way the side is united and given the necessary balance.”

Simoni’s comments come on the same day that Sandro Mazzola also questioned the side’s attacking department.
