Stefano Colantuono was left to rue a series of early Atalanta misses in their defeat to Roma. “We should’ve been 2-0 up after 20 minutes.”

The Orobici dominated the opening half-hour, but wasted glorious opportunities and rattled the crossbar, eventually losing 2-0.

“If you come to the Olimpico and deserve to be 2-0 up after 20 minutes, then do not take your chances, absolutely anything can happen,” said the Coach.

“Roma seemed to let themselves be attacked easily, but if you don’t score goals then you cannot hope to gain points.

“We dominated the match and Roma only hit us on the counter-attack. In a game like this, you cannot fail to be leading after four clear scoring opportunities. The same thing happened against Torino and it’s unacceptable.”

German Denis did have the ball in the net when Atalanta were already 2-0 down, but was incorrectly flagged offside.

“We probably would’ve lost anyway, but you cannot get such an obvious offside decision wrong,” snapped Colantuono.

“He was 2-3 metres in play. It would at least have given us a chance to get back into the game.”
