The ‘Little Pharaoh’ came off the bench in the 3-1 win over Armenia last night and was only denied by a goalline clearance.

“I am very happy with the performance, less so with failing to score,” said the forward who made his first competitive appearance for the senior Azzurri.

“Now we have to look ahead to the next game, because the important thing is to win against Denmark on Tuesday.”

El Shaarawy has become a key figure for the Rossoneri and is now pushing his way into the Italy line-up, even though he doesn’t turn 20 until October 27.

“Do I feel more pressure when wearing the Italy or the Milan shirt? They are much the same. This is a great moment in my career.”
