Udinese striker Maicousel has spoken about his infamous penalty miss against Sporting Braga in August's Champions League play-off.

The Brazilian forward was pilloried for missing a 'Panenka' penalty against the Portuguese side in the second-leg shoot-out at Stadio Friuli, that meant the Zebrette would not compete in Europe's premier club competition.

But the 26-year-old has admitted that it was tough for him being criticised after only joining the club over the summer.

“Now we joke about it now,” he told Sky Sport 24. “But it was not easy. I am still convinced of my qualities though.

“I suffered a lot when I was excluded from the [Europa League] squad list, but I'm sure I'll be able to make my way back into the Coach's thoughts.”
