Sampdoria are keeping faith with Ciro Ferrara and Vice-President Edoardo Garrone blamed the referee for “killing football” with their defeat to Inter.

The Blucerchiati were beaten 3-2 at San Siro, though the Nerazzurri’s comeback only really started once Andrea Costa was sent off.

“This is the fourth red card and the fifth penalty awarded against us,” slammed Garrone in Il Secolo XIX newspaper.

“I am not saying this to look after my own interests. I am doing it for football. We cannot continue like this, as they are killing football.

“Alvaro Pereira nearly broke Gaetano Berardi’s leg and didn’t even get a yellow card. As for the build-up to that third goal, Yuto Nagatomo was at least two metres offside.”

Berardi has now been diagnosed with a badly sprained left ankle and will be out of action for several weeks.

Despite a fifth consecutive defeat, Sampdoria are keeping the faith with Coach Ferrara regardless of this weekend’s result against Atalanta.
