Vladimir Petkovic has commended the Lazio supporters after their 3-2 win over city rivals Roma on Sunday.

Goals from Antonio Candreva, Miroslav Klose and Stefano Mauri were enough to give the Biancocelesti an invaluable victory, but the Bosnian tactician has revealed that it was the supporters who gave them the will to win.

“I wanted to go to the Curva after the game,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “Just to go and thank the fans for their support.

“We played the game like our normal selves and tried to take advantage of the opponents weaknesses.

“Thankfully we got the important result after a good game. I'm sure all the fans were happy with our win.”

He also commented on next weekend's trip to Turin to face Juventus.

“They are playing some great football,” he said. “At home we are very strong, but we have to try and take that form away from the Stadio Olimpico.”
