The goalkeeper left Palermo for PSG at a cost of around €4m after his relationship with the Rosanero broke down over contract talks.

“I had no other offers at the time,” the Azzurri international told Il Giornale di Sicilia. “I played for a mid-to-top table side and, initially, I didn’t even want to leave.

“However, the PSG project that was described to me by director general Leonardo was an opportunity that I immediately accepted.

“I was 24 at the time and I felt that I was ready for an experience abroad. I’m happy in Paris.”

Sirigu was handed his fourth cap in the 2-1 friendly defeat to France in midweek. He’s actually only won one game while playing for Italy, losing the other three.
