The Marassi outfit have had a season to forget so far, but they won 1-0 at Atalanta on Sunday after six straight losses in Serie A.

“We wanted to get out of this difficult situation and we were able to do that in the best possible manner,” he stated.

“It was important to get the three points, important for the table and also for our morale.

“Now we need to continue demonstrating our qualities because we are certainly not a team who should be at the bottom of the standings.”

Genoa, now bossed by Gigi Del Neri, had not won since Week 4. They play Chievo next weekend in Serie A.

The Rossoblu are now sixteenth in the standings, but just a point above the drop zone.
