Stephan El Shaarawy insists Milan “believe we can qualify for the Champions League” after their victory over leaders Juventus.

The Rossoneri climbed to ninth place with that result, though they are still 10 points adrift of that third qualifying spot.

“We believe we can qualify for the Champions League. There’s a long season ahead of us and plenty of time to catch up,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Against Juve we earned an important victory with a performance of great substance, focus and effort. It was our best game of the season so far.

“It was also important for our growth as a team and we must continue like this in order to climb back up the table.

“This is why the game with Catania is going to be crucial for our position in the standings and a sense of consistency. We must put in a great performance.”

El Shaarawy only just turned 20, but is Serie A Capocannoniere so far with 10 goals to his name.

“I am pleased to receive so many compliments and all I can do is try to keep it up. I even heard comparisons to Samuel Eto’o, who is such a great champion. Like him I try to sacrifice myself for the team and often even work as a full-back to help out."

The Little Pharaoh was also asked what he'd be willing to do if Milan won the Scudetto. "I'd cut my hair off!"
