Serie A Week 15: Did You Know?

Derby della Mole history, Inter's own goal gifts, Stephan El Shaarawy matches Marco Van Basten and Stefan Savic surprise are among the Week 15 stats rounded up by Susy Campanale.

Torino have not beaten Juventus since a 2-1 Derby della Mole success in April 1995, followed by nine defeats and four stalemates. The Granata have failed to score in the last seven editions, conceding 12.

Juventus got back to winning ways after one point from two rounds and ended their 207-minute goal drought. Claudio Marchisio took his career total to 22 Serie A goals with his second brace, the other being against Milan in October 2011. Sebastian Giovinco got his 36th top flight strike.

The Bianconeri have missed two of their five penalties this season, as Arturo Vidal also failed to convert the Week 1 effort. Andrea Pirlo has now missed seven of his total 21 Serie A spot-kicks.

Torino fell to a third consecutive defeat without scoring between the League and Coppa Italia, registering just one win against Bologna in the last nine rounds.

Napoli have won five and drawn two of their last seven official outings, while at the San Paolo their run this season has seen eight victories and two stalemates. Gokhan Inler celebrated his debut Serie A brace, taking his career total to nine goals. Marek Hamsik has his 57th, while Edinson Cavani went up to 93 in the Italian top flight – 82 of them wearing the Napoli jersey. The Partenopei had 28 shots on goal – more than any other team has managed in a single game this season.

Pescara fell to their fourth consecutive defeat and continue to ‘boast’ both the worst strike force and defence. The Delfini have never won in their 13 visits to Naples, losing 10. Birkir Bjarnason marked his debut Serie A goal at the fifth appearance, ending Pescara’s 263-minute goal drought.

Milan have won their last three in all competition, but for the first time this season win two League fixtures on the trot. The Rossoneri have fought back to earn five points in their last three away games at Catania, Palermo and Napoli.

Stephan El Shaarawy took his seasonal tally to 12 in Serie A alone, his third brace. The Little Pharaoh is the club’s all-time sixth top scorer for the opening 15 rounds, matching Marco Van Basten. Kevin-Prince Boateng hadn’t scored since April 24, a 1-0 victory over Genoa, and took 44 shots to finally get it into the net. The Ghanaian also received his second red card of the season – his fourth overall.

Catania fell to a second consecutive 3-1 defeat after their Sicilian Derby capitulation. The Elefantini haven’t beaten Milan since a 1-0 result in 1963, notching up 14 draws and 13 losses between Serie A and B. Nicola Legrottaglie marked his 20th top flight goal, where he hadn’t found the net since April 29.

Bologna also won midweek against Livorno. Manolo Gabbiadini is an Atalanta youth product, but has scored two of his total Serie A career goals against his parent club. Alessandro Diamanti took his total to 23. Atalanta tumbled to a third consecutive defeat despite German Denis getting his 38th Serie A goal.

Genoa have lost seven of their last eight games and have already been defeated five times at Marassi. Ahmed Said broke his Serie A duck at the third game, while Bosko Jankovic went up to 15. Chievo had previously lost all six of their away matches this season, but have now won their last three top flight visits to Genoa.

Alberto Paloschi’s first ever hat-trick took his career tally in Serie A to 17 goals and he did it against one of his former clubs. Adrian Stoian got his second strike.

Inter returned to winning ways after one point from four games in all competition and kept their first clean sheet since beating Catania 2-0 on October 21, conceding 10 in their last six League outings. The Nerazzurri have benefited from two own goals this season, as Davide Astori also put through his own net for Cagliari at San Siro.

Palermo are still without an away victory since April 1, managing only four points from 12 attempts. The Rosanero have never won away to Inter in Serie A, losing 18 and drawing eight.

Lazio extended their unbeaten run in all competition to four wins and two draws. The Biancocelesti have picked up 16 points from an available 18 in the last six Olimpico League outings. Giuseppe Biava took his career total to 10 Serie A goals, 22 for Miroslav Klose.

Parma have scraped just one point from their last three away fixtures. The Ducali have won just one of their last eight visits to the Olimpico. Ishak Belfodil marked his third Serie A strike.

Stevan Savic and Nenad Krsticic both scored their debut Serie A goals in the same game, but the Fiorentina defender managed to break his duck with a brace. Only Juventus had previously been able to take a point away from the Stadio Franchi this season, 0-0 on September 25. The Viola extended their unbeaten run to nine, but haven’t kept a clean sheet in five.

Sampdoria also drew last term in Florence, but haven’t won here since a 2-0 result in September 2004, earning three draws and four defeats. The Blucerchiati hadn’t picked up a single point on their travels since a 1-1 at Roma on September 26, falling to four consecutive losses.

Sampdoria and Pescara have six red cards this season, more than any other club.

Siena had managed five consecutive clean sheets between Serie A and Coppa Italia, including three victories. Luis Neto bagged his debut Serie A goal at the 11th cap. Roma have now won three on the bounce, something that hadn’t happened since January 2012.

Self-confessed Giallorossi fan Serse Cosmi has only lost four of his 14 meetings with this club. His only other meeting with Zdenek Zeman was a 1-1 draw between Perugia and Napoli on November 12 2000.

Mattia Destro celebrated his first top flight brace for Roma against his former club, meaning he now has 18 goals to his name. Simone Perrotta’s 42nd Serie A goal was his first since Roma 1-0 Chievo on April 23, 2011.

Udinese ended their seven-match winless streak in all competition, which included three defeats. Roberto Pereyra and Gabriele Angella both got their third Serie A goals, while it was the second for Danilo. Giovanni Pasquale took his total to four, but had not found the net since another meeting with Cagliari, when Udinese won 6-2 on May 31, 2009.

Cagliari are without a win in five and have only ever won once at the Stadio Friuli in 19 Serie A visits, losing 12. Daniele Dessena scored his 13th top flight goal.

With 39 goals (an average of 3.9 per game), this has been the most prolific Serie A round since 2009-10.
