Rolando Maran sees today’s trip to Siena as a crossroads for Catania’s campaign. “We have to take it day by day.”

The Elefantini had been high fliers before recent defeats to Palermo and Milan, but progressed to the Coppa Italia Fifth Round this week.

“After the last two losses, our victory over Cittadella in the Coppa brought back enthusiasm,” said the Coach.

“Siena recovered well from their six-point penalty and are now fighting for safety, just like us. They have done very well on home turf and are dangerous on the counter.

“I expect the same approach we took against Milan, staying compact and making our opponents nervous. Fitness levels aren’t perfect after 120 minutes in the Coppa, but I hope everyone can give their best.

“We have to take it day by day, as it’s not easy to play three times in a week. The next few rounds are going to be very tricky, because there are several relegation battles.”
