Vincenzo Montella is confident Fiorentina can get back on track in the Tuscan derby with Siena with good news for Stevan Jovetic and bad for Emiliano Viviano.

The Viola lost their head-to-head with Roma 4-2 last week and take on local rivals Siena at 11.30am GMT on Sunday. Click here for a match preview.

“A setback does not change our journey, as we must always maintain our belief and our identity,” said Montella in his Press conference.

“The lads proved they believe in this project and I don’t think they want to lose that due to one defeat. After Juventus and on a par with Napoli, we are the team who have the fewest defeats this season. We must have the strength to carry forward our mentality.

“The players don’t worry me, as I am sure they won’t get it wrong against Siena tomorrow. This is a perfectly normal period in a football team’s existence. There is always exaggeration from the media, whether we win or lose.”

Jovetic returns to the squad after over a month out, but under-fire goalkeeper Viviano receives a double warning, as he could be dropped even if he is fit.

“Jovetic trained with the squad and is in good condition, though I don’t know if he can play 90 minutes.

“Over the last two days Viviano has trained with difficulty due to a hip problem. I will evaluate what to do with him in the last session, but I can also make certain decisions regardless of fitness issues…

“Unfortunately, Cuadrado is suspended and he is one of the players we don’t really have a replacement for.”

Siena are bottom of the table, but only because of their six-point penalty in the betting scandal.

“That situation can even motivate a team further, because you know right from the start that you have to chase the rest. Lately they have conceded too many goals, but Siena will certainly want to get back on track against us.”
