There is a new scandal at Palermo, as director Pietro Lo Monaco blasted “unprofessional” Uruguayan Arevalo Rios. “He should stay at home.”

The midfielder joined in the summer, but has struggled to settle and it’s reported he was unhappy that his girlfriend couldn’t get a permit to stay in Italy with him.

Rios went to Uruguay for the Christmas break and is apparently refusing to return to Sicily for training.

“He should stay home,” snapped Lo Monaco. “I told his agent the same thing. Palermo pay him a great deal of money and I don’t think he nor any other player can take such a damaging attitude towards himself or the club that pays him.

“We hope that he is still worth the same on the transfer market as we paid for him. He is drowning in some personal problems and at the end of the day stayed in his country. He finished this experience in an unprofessional manner.”

Lo Monaco also confirmed that Eran Zahavi could return to Israel on loan, while Palermo will secure Andrea Dossena from Napoli later this week.

Today the Rosanero already presented January signings Salvatore Aronica from Napoli and Anselmo from Genoa.
