Palermo Coach Gian Piero Gasperini already named his line-up against Lazio today and insists Miroslav Klose’s absence “changes nothing.”

There are rumours that the tactician is fighting for his job after picking up one point from the last six Serie A games.

Tension was evident in the Press conference, as Gasperini read out his starting XI, then walked out and later returned to answer questions.

“Klose is a great striker, but if he is out then Sergio Floccari or Libor Kozak will start, so in tactical and technical terms it changes nothing,” he insisted.

“We must play with pride and the right mentality. We know that we are facing a good team, but if we play the way we always have done and make more of our chances, then we can have our say.

“I hope the stadium will be full. The fans have always been there for us and we want to repay them. We’ve got 10 home games from here on in and must pick up as many points as possible.”

Over the last few weeks Gasperini has complained he cannot play his style of football until reinforcements have been brought in, but Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini publicly called for him to stop blaming the squad.

“I never talked about the transfer market until the start of January. It’s not about saying the squad is poor or not, just that by the end of January I will have a more complete squad.”

Gasperini named his starting XI for today’s match, which includes Josip Ilicic, Paulo Dybala and Fabrizio Miccoli together.

Palermo: Ujkani; Von Bergen, Aronica, Garcia; Morganella, Rios, Kurtic, Dossena; Ilicic, Dybala, Miccoli
