The Flying Donkeys are unbeaten at the Olimpico since 2003 and caused another upset when ending their 16-match positive streak in all competition.

“The lads interpreted the match brilliantly,” said the Coach. “We knew that we were facing an important team, but we bring home these three points with merit and they are valuable for achieving safety. With 28 points we can look to the future with optimism, but there’s a long way to go.”

Alberto Paloschi scored the winner for his seventh goal of the season, a new personal best, but Gennaro Sardo limped off.

“It’s a shame about Sardo, as he sprained his knee and we hope it isn’t serious. He had been in great shape.

“Christian Puggioni was motivated and put in a strong performance. He is now our first choice goalkeeper, though we are still seeking a replacement for Stefano Sorrentino. Albano Bizzarri and Juan Pablo Carrizo are two of the names we are tracking, but we haven’t made a definitive choice yet.”
