“It will be a very tough game,” warned Petkovic in his Press conference. “They are very strong on dead ball situations and counter-attacks.

“Lucien Favre is one of the most prestigious Swiss Coaches and last season he did great things with Borussia.

“In order to prepare for this game, we are working on set plays in training.”

Petkovic, who spent much of his career in Switzerland, looked back on Lazio’s last-gasp 1-1 draw with Napoli.

“We need to find the Lazio that played against Napoli and improve on a few aspects too. We weren’t under pressure on many occasions and even after the equaliser we had the chances to win the game.

“Ederson is on the bench because we cannot risk him from the start yet. Stefano Mauri has improved, but if he is not in shape then he won’t be played.”

He was also asked about Pedro Luis Cavanda, who has been frozen out following a contract dispute.

“His absence was decided along with the club.”
